Previously, he wrote about how regulations affect IT operations as associate editor of SearchCompliance.com at TechTarget, including issues of data protection, privacy, security and enterprise IT strategy. Before moving his focus to security and compliance, he was the associate editor of WhatIs.com, an online IT encyclopedia. In that role, he researched and wrote about nearly every aspect of enterprise IT. Howard's previous work experience also includes working in operations for an e-business consultancy, a stint as a knowledge broker for a management consulting firm, an apprenticeship to a master home builder and, very briefly, taking some heat in the kitchen as a garde manger at an outstanding Italian restaurant. When he's not talking about himself in the third person, he's used to people calling him "Alex" or @digiphile, due to nom de tweet on Twiter. Alex is a native of Alleghany county, near the Finger Lakes in upstate New York. He moved to Philadelphia at 8, went to college in Maine and, after brief sojourn in Brazil and then Baltimore, settled in the Boston area in 1999. He now lives in Capitol Hill in Washington, where he enjoys running around the Mall with his faithful greyhound, Shadow Inoe. |
